About us: Carol Wildman (B.A. Stanford) has lived in Taos since 1985, and took over leadership of Taos Landscaping Inc. in 1997. The company was founded in 1980 by a local woman who understood the concept of xeriscape before there was a word for it. Decades later, our specialty remains low maintenance and water conserving landscapes. Whether the project is a school soccer field or an herb garden, our first concern is how to plan and plant to save water.
Our design/build services make custom landscape
installation efficient and economical. By the time our crews are
on your site, we are already intimately familiar with the location,
and the process has been orchestrated on paper. We design within
our expertise, so the work is done once, correctly. Most customers
find it helpful to tour our work for ideas and elements that will
translate into their site and lifestyles. We invite you to call or

Xeriscape: Water
smart environmentally friendly planting using drought tolerant native
plants. When used in a landscape design, with proper drip irrigation,
native plants can flourish with little care, giving you a lot of
bang (volume & color) for your buck. Xeriscape is the common
sense approach to landscaping in our high desert conditions with
little water, poor soil and a short growing season. In Taos, low maintenance is the number
one request in landscape design.
Hardscape: Landscaping
other than plants: walls, patios, rock, etc. Rock and gravel mulches
use water permeable weed barriers to inhibit competitive weeds and
maximize growing conditions for desired plants. Aesthetic hardscape,
including rock walls, flagstone patios, invisible fountains, and
boulder arrangements offer minimal maintenance.
Irrigation: Dont
even think about standing around with a hose! Hand watering wastes
water, time and erodes soil. User friendly automatic irrigation systems
are the backbone of all successful landscaping in Taos. Our drip
systems deliver a specific amount of water to each individual plant,
at a rate optimally absorbed by the plants root system. Electronic
controllers allow you to water different areas with varying needs,
i.e. trees versus lawns, on separate schedules. By watering at night,
evaporation is minimized, the soil and roots can maximize absorption,
and the water demand can be spread out for the benefit of your well.

Native grass seeding
Works! A great solution for mud and dust control, reclamation,
and ideally, choking out weeds. For the best results with seeding,
we recommend sprinklers or sprayers with an automatic controller.
Bobcat Excavation: We
have all the bobcat attachments to efficiently dig, trench, grade,
build swales and mounds, rototil and rake large areas, and move big
piles in small areas.
